A new company, from the minds of Guild Wars, has come together to create the ultimate immersive zombie killing experience. They have announced a brand-new MMO, strictly for consoles, in which you and everyone else playing the game fight off the zombie hordes, all in real time.

Undead Labs is a Seattle, Washington-based game development studio that’s on a mission to take online gaming in bold new directions. Our singular focus is to create the definitive massively multiplayer zombie game (MMOZ) for console gamers. Nothing screams funny quite like wading into a group of rotting zombies with a lawn chair and a box of sharpened #2 pencils, and nothing says fun quite like hunting zombies with your friends, whether they are online or on your couch.

The game is in the early stages of development. Or, at the very least, it’s in the early stages of talking about development. Frankly, its really early in the process, so keep an eye on their site as they promise to use their site to keep us up to date on their progress.

No, this is not a zombified version of Driving Miss Daisy, in which Morgan Freeman drives an undead Jessica Tandy around while she feasts on the brains of unsuspecting Southerners. No, this is not that game. Instead, you are a survivor of a zombie plague who has to drive around town, picking up other survivors and killing as many zombies as you can, by driving into them with your car.

It could be interesting (but now I really want to play that Driving Miss Daisy game! Somebody make that game!)

Of course, the Nazi Zombies were a “hidden” additional feature in the original Call of Duty: World at War game, meant as a bonus feature after you’d already saved the world from normal Nazis in World War II. But now, the zombies take front and center in the iPhone app.

This sequel promises longer missions, more more weapons and four new characters that you have to see to safety. And just one of the most pulse-pounding experiences a video game can give you. Seriously, when you’re watching a horde of screaming zombies running at you at full speed and you’re out of ammo and armed only with a frying pan… well, good luck to ya.

Created by Markus Persson for the 2009 Jave 4k Competition, this game pits you against an impossibly huge horde of blood-thirsty zombies. A limited amount of health and the ability to only see what’s directly in front on you make this an incredibly tense and challenging game.

I couldn’t make it past level 1 and the most kills I had was 501. Surely others can do much better than that.
